How can I Help Make My Community a Better Place

Did you know that $11.5 billion is spent every year to clean up litter. Wow that’s a lot of money! So that’s why this year I’m going to try and make my community a better place. But what should I do to help?

The first thing I can do is throw my recyclable paper in the recycling bin because I usually throw my recyclable paper into the trash can, now I will throw all my recyclable paper into the recycling bin. Second, whenever I go to a lake, beach or river, I’m going to bring a bag with me to pick up all the litter that I find scattered around the area, that’s usually cigarettes, pop cans and plastic bottles, food wrappers or other types of litter. Lastly, I can fundraise money and volunteer and donate to the light house or the food bank, and I can volenteer at the S.P.C.A or help out at community centers like Sherbrooke.

You may think this is a hard task for you alone to do,but I like to think of Terry Fox’s quote ” If every Canadian gave one dollar, we’d have $22 million for cancer research. ” So the next time you think that your not helping the community much, remember that every little contribution is helping our community, or even the world by a little at a time. That is how I’m going to help make my community  a better place.
